Serge Marcil was busy, but some of his best photography students were on hand to talk about photography with Lenny Rapozo and Melanie Okamoto (she doesn’t just do senior events) at the Piikoi Building where the Kauai Community College photography students have their prints on display through mid-December.
Matthew Kawamura (when did he get his new camera?) said Lenny allowed them to display the photos for longer than the several days they had at the Kauai Society of Artists gallery (was nice being able to chat with Wendi Magahoay and Eve Solomon during the recent print sale) at the Kukui Grove Center.
Janece Yatsko offers a different subject to talk about instead of PTSA stuff, and Nina Monasevitch (she’s got the same kind of camera James Yamamoto picked up after his original one got pilfered in Europe) does a real good job with the birds.
Gerald Prickett has the equipment to do some really dynamite landscapes, and the best part of checking out the prints is having some of the original artists available to talk story about what went into making the prints.
According to the students, the display will be up until mid-December (with some material rotation?).
