Katie Mondin of Illinois (she’s going to be a sixth-grader) said she used to play basketball until she discovered soccer. She was spending time with “Aunty” Barb Bloemke, a fourth-grade teacher at the Elsie Wilcox Elementary School, who was supporting her students from The Lakers. Barbara said normally she would be in Illinois staying at Katie’s house, but this year, Katie and her parents came to visit.
Brent Bertsche of Fresno, California, said the last time he visited Kauai, it rained 12 inches in 12 hours resulting in all kinds of water all over the place. This time, there is a storm (Tropical Depression 4-E?) brewing?
Brent and Evette were visiting with Yvonne Johnson of Omao who took advantage of Jon Kaaihae’s valet service at the Kauai Culinary Market at The Shops at Kukuiula Wednesday. Jon said the valet service is available six days a week at The Shops at Kukuiula, and there is a discount to a participating store on the claim ticket.
Congratulations to Elvrine Chow and Ada Koene on the release of “Heavenly Haku Kauai,” a book featuring Dakota Cohen of Los Angeles who ended up wowing people on her Kamoa ukulele she won from last year’s Ukes in Paradise by Keoki’s Paradise.
