LIHUE — A 5th Circuit jury found 28-year-old Kapaa man, Larry Ikimaka, guilty Monday in a case involving nearly an ounce of crystal methamphetamine and associated drug paraphernalia.
Ikimaka’s sentencing is set for Dec. 3 and he faces up to 30 years in prison.
Following his arrest in October, Ikimaka was found guilty of promoting a dangerous drug in the second degree, a class B felony, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a class C felony. First Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jennifer S. Winn and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ginger Grinpas represented the state at trial; Greg Meyers represented Ikimaka. Fifth Circuit Chief Judge Randal G.B. Valenciano presided over the trial.
A co-defendant, Cheri Numazawa, was acquitted on related charges. Numazawa was represented at trial by Al Castillo, Jr.
A third co-defendant, Lianne Henderson, pleaded no contest to drug paraphernalia charges in April of this year.
