WAIPOULI — The business complex located in the back of Wahoo’s restaurant is known as the Royal Coconut Plaza and now includes The Lash Lounge Kauai and the TLC Consignment Shop.
The Lash Lounge Kauai opened its doors Aug. 1 and specializes in lash extensions and a waxing lounge.
“Lash lounges are found on the Mainland,” said Maria Colon, owner and lash stylist. “This became the first one to come to Kauai featuring three highly trained stylists using breaking, top-notch techniques. We wanted to create a place where girls can come to for high quality service and a place to lounge and relax.”
Colon brings her experience of doing lashes for about 11 years in Las Vegas she studied and was being certified by Xtreme Lashes in Las Vegas, where she studied with a 3D Russian volume master.
Joining Colon, lash artist Maddie Stedman also studied and became certified by Xtreme Lashes before returning to Kauai.
“I was searching for a professional lash artist to work with,” Stedman said. “In my search, I ran into Maria.”
Erika Yoos is the third lash artist certified by Noble Lash in Las Vegas before moving to Kauai from Northwest Arkansas with her boyfriend. A friend of the couple saw Yoos’ work and suggested she find Colon to team up with.
“Lash extension is a semi-permanent extension of one’s own lash,” Yoos said. “It feels very natural and helps people look and feel young and beautiful. The 3D technique also helps stimulate natural growth of one’s lashes.”
Colon said customers have a choice of the classic or the 3D, which builds more volume and is fluffier. She said the 3D technique is new, having arrived within the past year, and all three lash stylists are certified in this new technique.
“We’re the only three lash artists on the island who are currently certified for 3D,” Colon said. “Since opening, we’ve had a steady flow of customers from the Mainland who are visiting and need to be renewed.”
Colon said lash extensions are available in different lengths, colors and curves. It can also be customized to a woman’s wants and needs, safely.
“This is about making women feel better about themselves,” Yoos said. “You go to bed feeling more beautiful, and when you wake, you feel more beautiful.”
Colon said The Lash Lounge Kauai is also offering a limited time introductory special to celebrate the opening of the salon.
The Lash Lounge Kauai is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. They are closed on Sunday.
