John McNamara, who has served as associate athletics director for external affairs at the University of Hawaii Athletics Department since 2004, will leave UH effective March 3. During the next few months, McNamara’s role within the department will be to continue as an associate athletics director and assist with transitional issues.
“I thoroughly enjoy being a member of the UH Athletics ohana and working with our wonderful coaches, staff, fans, media and corporate partners,” McNamara said. “After 10-plus years at UH and 31 years in athletics administration overall, I now look forward to pursuing new career challenges and opportunities.”
“I’d like to thank John for providing his leadership for various external affairs departments,” said UH athletics director Dave Matlin. “I appreciate his many contributions and his willingness to assist us as we make some changes in order to position the department for the challenging new landscape in college athletics.”
