Natural order to cycle of life
Our Kauai Kolea (Pacific Golden Plover) have returned. They have been beautifying our parks and yards, now for three or four weeks.
They are our low elevation indigenous birds. They like to run and catch tasty things in the wet grass before they gather at the end of the day near the beachto talk story with each other. Their great migration, like our Pacific humpback whales, is one of the clear reminders of the cycles and circles of our life andthe life of our land.
The Earth builds with life itself.
Things that are of the Earth we call natural, we ourselves are natural. Nature is at its “best” and “most beautiful” when it exists in diverse communities, like aNative Hawaiian or Amazon Rainforest. The richness of this diversity provides the rich plant and animal life that we have been able to study and learn fromto create our world’s resources.
The laws and examples of nature are the building blocks of our science, not the other way around.
Before I will believe that glyphosate and GMO food products and their genetically engineered seeds are “safe,” I will see the agro-chemical farms on westKauai become diverse plant and animal communities.
For thousands of years, businesses and the empires they create have monetized mono-cropping, controlling a food supply for their profit. Other countriesof the world throw out GMO company practices as much for their business model as for their genetically altered food products.

Treason is being committed
Na’i Aupuni members and/or Hawaiians is trespassing on Kingdom of Hawaii International affairs and is committing treason to their own people and their nation. We as Hawaiians are war victims, captured and given new identities than demoralized and become third-class citizen on our own land.

Good and bad of the dog park
What we know:
Kauai is a wonder of natural resources and our parks are a treasure. Just this past winter the dog park passed a milestone. Its first anniversary. The parkcame about with hard work from our community, Mayor Bernard Carvalho, local business Akamai. Bryan and his guys gave their labor as a gift, what agenerous donation of the fence installation. Lastly, a grant!
Flip side:
Theft of the dog hoses and pools. Destruction of water bowls, pool and a damaged fence. Missing locks. Regular maintenance of the lawn seems to be athing of the past and when it is mowed it is scalped and heavy grass cuttings are creating potentially dangerous walkways near the keiki play equipment andpavilion.
What’s next:
This is up to Kauai County Parks and Recreation Director Lenny Rapozo to get the grass cut. Simple as that.
