Editor’s note: Old-timers might still remember the introduction from The Shadow radio program: “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!” Jerome Freitas, a retired state Department of Transportation worker, who is now better known as Da Shadow, since 2004 has been meeting with government representatives about problems he has discovered or that have been reported to him, and reporting the county’s responses.
BJB Sports Complex
There is still water at the BJB Sports Complex, near the substation and weekly farmer’s market, and the odor is very bad. Can the area be filled, so water doesn’t collect here?
Parks will investigate this concern and take appropriate action.
Kealia Beach Park
There is a large pothole at the entrance to Kealia Beach Park, can it be filled?
Parks was made aware of this concern and has completed filling this pothole.
Isenberg Park
There are brand new baskets at the park, but the brackets are broken. Can they be replaced?
Parks will investigate this concern and take appropriate action.
How much did the county receive in TAT last year?
The county received $14,935,000 in for TAT in FY15.
There is a bus stop across Taco Bell Kapaa, with a reserved stall for bus parking only but they don’t use that spot. Why not?
When a crosswalk was placed with one side ending in a marked “bus stop” area, KPD notified transportation that our bus stop needed to be moved. At the time, the next best location was the pullout area fronting Kapaa Taco Bell. However, we anticipate this to be a temporary location, so we have not requested to change the roadway markings until we know the permanent placement.

Will there be live coverage of the Police Commission meetings?
In an effort to reduce costs, the Police Commission meetings live webcast coverage, as well as the mayor’s weekly television show, were cancelled as of July 1.
