LIHUE — The kupuna have been busy preparing for the holidays.
Tuesday, representatives of Na Kupuna Council showed up for its monthly meeting with samples of new items senior centers have been working on for its annual Senior Food and Craft Fair.
“They’ve also been very creative in coming up with new and thoughtful ideas for the holidays,” said Melanie Okamoto, senior program coordinator for the county’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
The annual fair showcases Kauai’s citizens who participate at the nine senior centers from Kilauea to Kekaha, and is one of the signature events for Na Kupuna Council.
Doors open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall. There will be entertainment.
Okamoto suggests shoppers arrive early because the first items to go are usually the food.
