The University of Hawaii’s men’s golf A team was third on the leaderboard after the first round of the Kaanapali Collegiate Classic Invitational.
UH’s A team collectively scored a 282 (2-under-par) and the B team scored 301 (17-over-par) in the first day at the Royal Kaanapali Golf Course on Maui.
No. 14 Oklahoma is first in the team competition with 276 (8-under-par). No. 37 North Carolina State was second with 279 (5-under-par).
UH junior James Horton was Hawaii’s leading golfer in the first day, shooting a 67 (4-under-par) and was tied with three others for fourth place on the individual leaderboard.
Kapaa High School alumnus, UH freshman Bryden Salvador, shot a 76 (5-over-par) and is tied with eight others, including UH senior Justin Chu, at 72nd.
Kauai High School alumnus, Hawaii junior Justin Tokioka, shot a 77 (6-over-par) and is tied with two others for 81st.
Long Beach State’s Jonny Hogan and Oklahoma’s Rylee Reinertson shared the top spot in the individual competition, both shooting a 65 (6-under-par). Oklahoma’s Brad Dalke was third with 66 (5-under-par).
The tournament’s second round is today. Shotgun start is 8:30 a.m.
