Mokihana Aquatics swimmer Tyler Tanaka earned the Swimmer of the Meet award following the 36th annual Ken Suenaga Invitational which wrapped up Sunday at the Veterans’ Memorial Aquatic Center on Oahu.
Tanaka, 11, finished with a perfect meet following the two-day meet and sported an improvement of 4.06 seconds in his 200 individual medley swim where he touched the wall at 2 minutes, 59.53 seconds. He also boasted a 3.78 second improvement in the 100 freestyle (1:09.49).
Tanaka was one of seven swimmers from Mokihana Aquatics who participated in the meet.
Kamaira Silva, 10, finished with two personal best swims, and finished with a state qualifying time standard in the 200 freestyle (2:40.28). He strongest personal best came in the 100 IM (1:30.90) where she trimmed 4.21 seconds off her seeded swim.
Chloe Inouye, 9, finished the two days of swimming with six personal bests in her nine events where she ended with HI-AA time standards, her strongest showing coming in the 200 freestyle (2:51.78) for a 4.19 second improvement over her seeded time.
Leigh Idica, 10, finished with four personal bests, her strongest showing coming in the 100 breaststroke (1:42.03) where she earned a HI-AA time standard and a 2.80 second improvement.
Nevaeh Ibanez, 11, finished with a pair of HI-AA time standards, her best swim coming in the 50 breaststroke where she touched at 38.21.
Madeline Hoesel, 13, posted four personal bests over two days, her strongest swim coming in the 200 backstroke (2:34.59) where she trimmed off 4.59 seconds in her ninth place finish for a HI-AA time standard.
She finished the two days of swimming with seven HI-AA time standards in nine events.
Team leader Sara Funtanilla, 14, showed her best form in the 200 backstroke (2:51.53) where she finished 11th overall for a HI-A time standards, one of three she earned on Oahu.
