LIHUE — In observance of New Year’s Day, County of Kauai offices, all refuse transfer stations, the Kekaha Landfill, Kauai Resource Center, Puhi Metals Recycling Center and all HI-5 bottle redemption centers will be closed on Friday.
Other county facilities that will be closed on New Year’s Day include the Wailua Golf Course, Kapaa and Waimea swimming pools, and all of the neighborhood centers.
Refuse collection will not be affected by the holiday; it will continue as scheduled.
The Lihue Sunshine Market will not be held on Friday. The market will resume at its usual time 3 p.m. on Jan. 8.
The Kauai Bus will be operating on a modified scheduled on New Year’s Day.
On Thursday, The Kauai Bus will be running on a regular weekday schedule for most of the day although service will end early. The last routes on New Year’s Eve will be as follows:
• Route 100 Kekaha to Lihue – 8:30 p.m.
• Route 200 Lihue to Kekaha – 7:30 p.m.
• Route 400 Hanalei to Lihue – 8:15 p.m.
• Route 500 Lihue to Hanalei – 7:25 p.m.
• Route 30 Koloa Shuttle – 9:15 p.m.
• Route 60 Kapahi Shuttle – 8:33 p.m.
• Route 70 Lihue Shuttle – 8:55 p.m.
The normal business hours for county offices and services will resume on Monday.
