PUHI — The 11th annual Kauai Gymnastics Academy Show is 1 p.m. Sunday at the Kukui Grove Center food court area.
Kay Leonard, KGA’s head administrator and class instructor, said things have been pretty hectic at the Puhi facility with the schedules being re-worked and the show coming up.
“Right now, we have four different stations and levels of work being done,” Kay said. “It’s pretty much like a circus with so many things taking place at the same time.”
The public is invited to the free gymnastics show which will feature the Iki, Hoku, and Kula teams, or hui, demonstrating their achievements in gymnastics. This will include performances from the six athletes — Ashley Ricciardi, Angela Rhey Ventura, Kaisa Ishikawa, Aslynn Questin, Mia Ricciardi, and coach Lani Johnson — Kauai Gymnastics Academy will take to the AAU Western Regional Gymnastics Championships in Las Vegas in March.
“This is the first time KGA athletes will be competing outside of Kauai,” said Leonard. “The show will feature 31 gymnasts and three coaches working with the theme of Olympics since the next Olympic Games will be in the summer of 2016.”
Meantime, the clock is ticking on the wall of the Kauai Gymnastic Academy.
“We have a new countdown clock,” said Jack Leonard, program director and coach.
