LIHUE — Penny Cistaro, executive director of the Kauai Humane Society, was happy to accept $5,000 check Tuesday from representatives of Subaru Hawaii.
“We’re truly appreciative of this award from Subaru Hawaii and will make good use of the funds,” she said.
The award represents proceeds from the Subaru Hawaii community-based “Share the Love” campaign which ran from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31 at Hawaii’s Subaru dealers.
Under terms of the “Share the Love” campaign, Subaru Hawaii contributed $250 for each new 2015, or 2016 Subaru vehicle sold, up to a maximum of $30,000 to six Hawaii nonprofit organizations.
Additionally, shoppers could vote for their favorite participating nonprofit organization online through the campaign period. The Maui Humane Society earned the additional $5,000 for receiving the most votes of all participating partners in the “Share the Love” campaign.
Through the past five years, Subaru Hawaii has donated more than $100,000 to local nonrofits.
The donation to the Kauai Humane Society will go toward general operations.
