LIHUE — U.S. Senator Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, announced the names of 40 students nominated to attend the nation’s service academies. The four service academies are: the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
“These young men and women are impressive, courageous individuals who will become new leaders of our military force,” Schatz said.
The following nominees from Kauai were named for consideration:
w Kainalu Gandia, Kapaa, Kapaa High School
w Devon Hartsell, Lawai, Waimea High School
w Maia Young, Kekaha, Waimea High School
Nominees will now be considered for appointment by the U.S. Service Academies.
