Lifeguards removed “Shark Sighting” signs from Hanalei Bay today.
The signs were put up Thursday after a man reported he was bitten by a shark near the Hanalei Pier while he was paddling to shore after surfing earlier in the day. The man suffered lacerations to his hands.
The Minnesota man was treated by lifeguards on scene and opted to drive himself to seek medical treatment.
Lifeguards continue to advise “No Swimming” at all North Shore beaches, including Anini Beach, due to dangerous ocean conditions.
Beachgoers are advised to visit lifeguarded beaches at Lydgate, Poipu or Salt Pond beaches.
