A fresh start on life.
That’s what a $25,000 donation means for a family on Kauai, said Stephen Spears, executive director for the Kauai Habitat for Humanity.
“We believe that everyone should have a safe place to live and are so grateful for this donation,” Spears said. “This gift of $25,000 from Servco will not only provide the framing and roofing for one of the homes in our Eleele Iluna Subdivision, it will also provide a stable place for a local family to live, grow and strengthen our community.”
The Kauai Habitat for Humanity was one of 10 Hawaii nonprofits that received a check for $25,000 from Servco Chairman and CEO Mark Fukunaga and Servco Automotive president Rick Ching in honor of Servco Pacific Inc. selling its 500,000th Toyota, Lexus, and Scion vehicle since becoming a Hawaii distributor in 1958.
“Servco has been in business in Hawaii for nearly 100 years, and we wouldn’t be where we are without the support of our community,” Ching said. “Those in the nonprofit sector are among the hardest working because they are often forced to work with limited budgets and resources. They are the unsung heroes of our community and this is our way of recognizing their dedication and the lasting impact that they have on many local families.”
Other Hawaii nonprofits receiving checks included Family Promise of Hawaii, American Red Cross-Hawaii Chapter, and Best Buddies Hawaii.
The nonprofits were nominated from Nov; 16 to Dec. 18 by Hawaii residents who wrote why they are personally thankful for the nonprofit’s work. Servco Pacific received more than 3,700 nominations on behalf of more than 500 nonprofit organizations.
