LIHUE — The Kauai Board of Realtors will be offering three $1000 scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend a vocational school, college or university in the fall.
Since starting the program in 2002, 110 students have been awarded scholarships.
Students are required to complete an application and questionnaire and include a narrative on “why they are applying for the scholarship and what their future plans are in the future.” A committee will review all the submission, and schedule interviews with the top 15 recipients. The guidelines used to select the final award recipients include:
Academic achievements, presentation skills, financial need and community service.
The deadline for submitting completed applications to KBR’s public relations committee is April 1. Recipients will be announced in May.
In addition to offering college scholarships, the KBR has conducted annual school supply distribution to the six public middle and high schools throughout the island; raised funds for Junior Life Guard program and sponsored the Habitat for Humanity “American Dream Home.”
