Kung Hee Fat Choy!
Today is the Chinese New Year celebrating the Year of the Fire (according to Candace Boxer of Ono Pops) Monkey. Kudos to Stacie Chiba-Miguel, Chantal Zarbaugh and all the Kukui Grove ohana on a great Lion Dance (even Wade Lord got to give lai see for good fortune) on Saturday (Wayne Medeiros said he would’ve gone, but had to go watch his son’s soccer game).
The night before, Patti Ornellas and her American Cancer Relay for Life people were out in full force to celebrate Bingo Night with Sharon Lasker and the Regency at Puakea people.
Patti said this year’s color is purple, and the goal is to get 62 teams signed up for the April 23-24 Relay at the Hanapepe Soccer fields. She said they’re more than halfway there, and the goal is just one more than the 61 who came out to celebrate, remember and honor those in the fight against cancer (Kaleo Carvalho said they want the Chinese Lion to come open the Hanapepe Relay).
June 4 is the Bark for Life at the Hokuala golf course (the former Kauai Lagoons parking lot is looking good), and is Mary Lardizabal still involved with the Relay for Life of North Shore which will take place Aug. 19-20 at the Kauai Christian Academy in Kilauea?
