LIHUE — The Kauai Soccer Association opened its spring season Saturday at the North Vidinha fields.
“We have 54 teams with more than 600 players — 423 returning from the KSA fall season, and 225 new registers,” said Kevin Gusman, KSA official. “And we’re not done, yet. We still have to figure in the older players who are just coming off the high school season.”
Jane Garma, KSA official, said games will be played every Saturday at the North Vidinha fields starting at 8 a.m. until the May 14 championships.
The numbers resulted in a lot of games being played — seven Under 8 matches, six Under 10 contests, five Under 12 games, and four Under 14 matchups.
Under 8
Jackson Street found the net twice to lead the Kapaa Lions BU8 to a 4-2 showing over the Lihue Cougars BU8 in the day’s opener. Brayden Bermoy and Luka Lasky-Martin helped the Lions with a goal each. Jonathan Canha and Tykei Chang Wo scored for the Cougars.
Tihani Jose scored twice and Saydie Orsatelli had a goal to lead the Kalaheo Fire GU8 to its 3-0 shutout over the Futsal Kauai GU8.
Carlyn Rapozo-Kamoku and Sienna Yamashita had hat tricks, or three goals scored, and Wainohia Kitamura added two goals to lead the Futsal Kauai BU8 to a 7-1 win over the Futsal Kauai Green BU8. Araiyan McDonald did the honors for the Futsal Kauai Green.
Shannon Harrison found the net twice and Kekainalu Geer scored a goal in Hanalei FC BU8’s 3-0 win over the Keahi BU8. Laysa Turner had a hat trick for Napali GU8 in its 3-1 win over Na Hoku GU8 who got its score from Chloe Ayonan.
Nainoa Melchor fired off two goals and Maddan-Rush Ahuna, Xander Hussey and Makaio Melchor each scored to lead the Anahola FC BU8 to its 5-0 win over Team Onipa‘a BU8.
Under 10
Coral Turner scored two goals for the Kalaheo Fire GU10’s 2-0 shutout over Team Onipa‘a GU10.
Kate Brown, Keira Caoagas, Liliana Keller, and Meron Ross scored to lead the Eastside Pride GU10 to its 4-0 win over the Rush GU10.
The Rush BU10 took its match over Team Onipa‘a BU10 by forfeit.
Jacob Grossmann fired off two goals and Kaidyn Yago netted a score to lead the Keahi BU10 to a 3-1 edge over the Lihue Arsenals BU10 who got its score from Lucas Summerhays.
Duke DePasquale and Curran Pope each had hat tricks, Ignacio Elzaurdia and Micah Lindman each scored twice, and Bodhi Jones had a goal to lead the Hanalei FC BU1o to an 11-1 win over the Keahi BU10 IMUA who got its goal from Kaikeaokalani Potts.
Kamale Gonsalves found the net five times, Kamalei Dasalia-Mundon scored four times, Edward Sillimann added two goals and Kauli‘a Shiroma scored once to lead the Futsal Kauai BU10 to a 12-0 shutout over Keahi BU9.
Under 12
Kai Mottley scored four times, Lai Naihe, Austin Renaud and Aron Taguiam each found the net twice to lead the Lihue Arsenals Red BU12 to its 17-0 win over the Team Onipa‘a Elua BU12. Jordan Andres, Jayden Celebrado, Iverson Corpuz, Tai Panit, Kai Pappas, and Nkozi Spore each scored in the victory.
Jasmine Semblante scored twice to lead Team Onipa‘a GU12 to its 8-1 showing over the Kalaheo Fire GU12. Helping her, Jaidah Ahuna, Jessica Cezar, Briannalynn Ehia, Skylyn Fagarang-Alalem, Kayley Gardner and Mackenna Tamanaha each found the net once. Hayley Zina did the honors for the Kalaheo Fire.
Jasmine Semblante switched jersies and took the field for the Team Onipa‘a BU12 and scored two goals to help the boys to its 3-2 edge over Keahi BU12. Kayley Gardner also switched jersies and scored once for Team Onipa‘a. Haweo Akeo and Ainge Gillman scored for Keahi.
Hi‘ilani Bukoski scored five times and Kaleonahe Bukoski found the net twice to lead the Lihue Cougars GU12 to an 11-0 shutout over the NSFC GU12. Kaya Camara, Logan Kashima, Molly Middlebrook and Kailey Ruiz helped the win with goals.
Vincent Noguchi had a hat trick and Caleb Estes and Hanalei Wann-Keli‘iho‘omalu each scored twice to lead the Futsal Kauai BU12 to its 11-0 shutout over the Hurricanes BU12. Manakai Berrett, Anthony Durocher, Makaio Gonsalves and Kalani Leibow each scored a goal in the win.
Under 14
Tia Fulks and Eryka Napolean each scored twice and Janae Motosue scored once to lead the Rush GU14 to a 6-0 win over Team Onipa‘a GU14.
Victoria Hennessy, Ashley Mecham, Taelyn Nunes, Karlee Sukehira, and Talia Washington each scored in Futsal Kauai GU14’s 4-1 win over the Lihue Cougars GU14 who got its goal from Logan Kashima.
Duke Bush scored four times, La‘akea Gonsalves and Tyler Hawthorne each added two goals to lead the Kapaa Powawae BU14 to a 13-1 win over Team Onipa‘a BU13 who got its goal from Carlos Lang. Makaio Gonsalves, Deshawn Greer, Dreyden Iwamoto, Jaden Kapali and Ke Alae Ula Miike each added goals for the Kapaa Powawae.
Conor Hunt had a hat trick, Mason Hunt and Whitney Lugo each scored once to lead Team Onipa‘a BU14 to its 5-1 win over the NSFC BU14, who got a goal from Kellen O’Rourke.
