LIHUE — Electric power will be shut off to about 450 customers from Wainiha to Haena on the North Shore from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today so repairs can be made to a damaged transmission tower.
Repair crews will replace a cross-arm on a steel transmission tower behind the Hanalei School. The outage will not affect Hanalei.
Assuming favorable weather conditions and that no additional repairs are required, the work should be completed in five hours, according to a press release.
KIUC is contacting critical care customers in the area to ensure they are aware of the outage. All customers should unplug electronic equipment and any appliances that may be sensitive to power interruptions.
