Brian Silva
Brian Silva passed away at Hale Kupuna on Jan. 26, 2016 at the age of 63. Born on Oct. 30, 1952, to Andrew and Norma “Silva” Vidinha, he was a heavy equipment operator with Kekaha Sugar and an umpire for various baseball and softball organizations throughout Kauai.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest G. Silva and Marian “Huddy” Silva.
Brian is survived by his son, Dustin (Jessica Tabije) Silva of Oahu; three grandchildren, Justin Josiah Silva, Danielle Silva and Faith Silva, all of Oahu; twin brother, Burt (Ku’ulei) Vidinha of Kekaha; sisters, Erleen “Erla” Akana of Kekaha and Jayneen (BG) Laysa of Kalaheo and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed.

Samariaagalelei Leialoha Malu Lani Auelua
Samariaagalelei Leialoha Malu Lani Auelua of Kapaa passed away on Feb. 12, 2016. She was born in Lihue on Oct. 16, 2015.
Preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Sterling Castillo and paternal grandfather, Niusami Auelua.
Samaria is survived by her parents, Niusami “Sam” and Shantel Auelua; brother, Sterling Auelua; sister, Sheyannaleah Auelua, all of Kapaa; maternal grandparents, Cheryl (Rodney) Medina of Puhi; paternal grandparents, Uaite Auelua; maternal great-grandmothers, Julia Wasano and Elaine Seals; numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Samaria’s life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016, from 11 a.m. at 6159 Olohena Rd., Wailua Homestead, Kauai, HI. Follow the pink balloons. Turn on Kuamoo Road (Wailua/Coco Palms traffic light), right on Kamalu Rd. (Wailua County Store), left on Olohena Rd. Look for sign on left “Celebration of Life.”

Lettitia ‘Tish’ Ulanday Weaver
Lettitia “Tish” Ulanday Weaver of Koloa, Kauai, passed away peacefully on Feb. 6, 2016, at the age of 73.
Born on June 20, 1942, in Waimea Kauai, Hawaii, she was a retired office manager for Makai Properties.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernaldo and Veronica Ulanday; sisters, Priscilla Warren and Estrella Sharon.
She is survived by her daughters, Lavonne (Leonard “Kema Boy”) Kanahele, Hanapepe, Leilani (Glenn) Santos of Koloa; son, David (Gina) Weaver Jr. of Haiku of Maui; sisters, Loraine (Les) Stout, Nixa, Missouri, Christine McDaniel of Costa Mesa, California; brothers, Bernaldo “Blu” (Rena) Ulanday Jr. of Hanamalulu; Mark (Debbie) Ulanday of Kekaha; grandchildren, Leticia (Gil) Lorenzo, Leonard “Lenn” Kanahele, Veronica Leilani (Will) Kanahele Mendiola, Michel’e (Kainoa) Santos, Che’lane Weaver, Amber Weaver, Kaitlin Santos and Kaylah Santos.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Poipu Beach Park, main pavilion, visitation at 11 a.m., with services at noon.

Michael William Ford
Michael William Ford of Puhi, Kauai passed away on Feb. 19, 2016, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 62. He was born on July 9, 1953, in Texas. He was a taxi driver.
Survived by his wife, Josefina Castillo Ford; two step daughters, Realyn Suniga, Chely Suniga; one grandchild and many friends.
Friends may visit with the wife on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Poipu Beach Park from 4 p.m. and memorial services will be celebrated at 5 p.m.

Linda Ann Waialeale
Linda Ann Waialeale of Kapaa, Hawaii, passed away at the age of 71 on Feb. 29, 2016, in Lihue, Kauai. Born on July 25, 1944, in Pasadena, Texas, she was a housewife.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Helen; two brothers, James and Jack; sister, Sherry and grandchildren, Tanner and Tani.
Linda is survived by her husband, William K. Sonny Waialeale; sons, Troy (Sharon Snuggs) Waialeale, Dane (Terence) Dabis Waialeale, and Cory Waialeale; daughter, Jade (Poki) Waialeale-Battad; Aunt, Maggie Jo and Texas family; grandchildren, Tara Waialeale-Rivera,Tierny (Chris) Fu, Teagan Waialeale, Tori (Brandon Ishibashi) Waialeale-Battad, Tristin Waialeale, Tyli Waialeale-Battad, Harmony Graziano and Manna Graziano; great-grandchildren, Tavis and Tariq Fu; hanai sisters, Jeanine Guinn, Betty Lou Sanchez, and Alice Gordines and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Wailua Marina State Park. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with services to begin at noon and luncheon to follow.

Kekailani D. Pau
Kekailani D. Pau of Koloa, Hawaii, passed away on Feb. 27, 2016, at the age of 23. Born on Aug. 18, 1992, in Lihue, Kauai she was a college student at Kauai Community College majoring in Hawaiian Culture.
She is preceded in death by her father, A. Rocky Pau; maternal grandmother, Hazel Arzadon; maternal grandfather, John Okamura; maternal great-grandmother, Mildred Puni; maternal uncle, Kevin Okamura; paternal grandmother, Josephine Pau and paternal grandfather, David “Blackie” Pau.
Kekai is survived by her mother, Faith Pau; brother, Keoni (DeeAnn) Pau; sister, Kainoa (Jared) Aqui; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Kalaheo Ward. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m.

Edith G. Tanimoto
Edith G. Tanimoto of Lihue, Hawaii passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 5, 2016, at the age of 86. Born on May 23, 1929, in Koloa, Kauai, she was a retired Publisher of the Garden Island Newspaper.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tokuichi and Hanako Gushiken; sister, Mildred Itakura; brother, Hugh “Sonny” Gushiken; and daughter, LouAnn Tanimoto.
Edith is survived by her husband, Tsuyoshi Tanimoto; daughter, Joy (Ronald) Kouchi of Lihue; two grandsons, Dan and Egan Kouchi; sisters, Dorothy Kaneshiro of Omao, Kauai, Ethel Lei Minniear of Orange County, California, Esther (James) Kaneshiro of Kaneohe, O’ahu, and Janet (Edwin) Terui of Kapaa, Kauai; sister-in-law, Patricia Gushiken of Marshall, Michigan; along with numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Edith’s Life will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Kauai Veteran’s Center in Lihue. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. with services to follow at 4 p.m.

Juana Palaroan Catbagan
Juana Palaroan Catbagan of Kapaa, Hawaii, passed away at home in the Philippines on March 5, 2016, at the age of 92. She was born in San Juan, La Union, Philippines on June 24, 1923. She was a dedicated housewife.
She was preceded in death by her daughters Erlina and Maria Elena.
She was survived by her husband, Bernabe “Lino” Catbagan; five daughters, Magdalena (Henry) Cabading of Kapaa, Marcela (Warlito) Cabading of Kapaa, Milagros (Augusto) Sajonia of Kapaa, Mele (Arnold) Acosta of Kapaa, Ellen (Scott) Takai of Honolulu; five sons, Mariano (Felicidad) Catbagan of Wailua, Mamerto (Mercelina) Catbagan of Texas, Mario (Chanel) Catbagan of Kapaa, Maximo (Edna) Catbagan of Puhi, Manuel (Merlina) Catbagan of Kapaa; 34 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Juana’s life will be held on March 17, 2016, at Forest Lake Cemetery in San Juan, La Union, Philippines.
Joel Puuwai Miyashiro Sr.
Joel Puuwai Miyashiro Sr. of Keapana passed away at home on March 1, 2016, at the age of 51. He was born in Lihue, Kauai on March 29, 1964, and was employed by the Federal Government with Homeland Security (TSA).
Preceded in death by his mother, Marian Miyashiro and sister, Jeannie Miyashiro.
Joel is survived by his wife, Alison Miyashiro; son, Joel Puuwai (Gemmalyn) Miyashiro Jr. and their children, Anjoelina, Alyssiya; two daughters, Cheilee (Andrew) Baltazar and their children, Carlee-Rose, Andrew “Kaiea” Kailee-Ann; Alia (Alan Guillermo) Miyashiro and their children, Alijah and Aliviah, all of Keapana; father, Wilson Miyashiro Sr. of Kapahi; numerous siblings, aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Joel’s life will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016, at St. Catherine Church with visitation from 8 a.m., eulogy at 10:30 a.m., and services beginning at 11 a.m.

Bevery ‘Bev’ Phillips
Bevery “Bev” Phillips died unexpectedly on Oahu, on Saturday, February, 19, 2016, at the age of 62.
Bev is survived by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Phillips of Kapaa; two daughters, Deserie Phillips of Kapaa, Chante Anguay (Kaleo) of Waianae.; her mother, Alice Canales of Puhi; two sisters, Waedeen Yaris of Kaneohe, Rodreen Canales Boyd of California; four brothers, Blaine Yaris of California, Salvador “Junior” Yaris Jr. of Maui; Rodney Canales of Maui and Randy Canales of California; as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt and uncles.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 11 a.m., at Kalapaki Beach Park. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate the life of Beverly Phillips. Casual attire suggested.
