The annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk for Kauai, presented by the Hawaii Tourism and Lodging Association, Kauai chapter, is on May 14 starting with pre-registration, warm ups and safety briefings from 6:30 a.m. at the historic County Building. Someone wanted to know – with all the busy weekend schedules taking place.
Kudos to George Thronas (he’s this year’s Walk chair), Christina Gabriel (she’s the Kauai rep to the HLTA, or president of the HLTA, Kauai Chapter), and the huge ohana (most of them were at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific Spring Gourmet Gala, Friday at the Kauai Community College) on a great, sold-out bowling tournament.
There is room for more walkers, and for those who wait until the last minute, the Countdown to Charity Walk takes place May 7 (that’s the same weekend as the Mother’s Day at Kukui Grove with the planting for moms with Malama Kauai) at the Kukui Grove Center (guess Chantal Zarbaugh is going to be working, again!).
And, Maile Lewis said the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort is hosting an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast (with eggs and bacon) on April 30 to benefit the Charity Walk…patrons can either eat-in (preferred so they can take advantage of all the games and family events), or “drive-through take-out.”
