The fact is this 1984 action-comedy film changed the comedic landscape. Not only did it prove that successful television comedians could translate into successful film comedians, “Ghostbusters” ended up making a lasting impression upon the cultural landscape.
“Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History” is an in-depth retrospective on the phenomenon and its growth, celebrating over 30 years of Ghostbusters legacy, including its subsequent sequel, two animated television series, an interactive video game (voiced by the movie actors), numerous graphic novels, and merchandising.
This compendium contains a bevy of never-before-seen concept art, behind-the-scenes photos, and production info, along with a host of candid interviews with cast and crew about how it all started and what it was like, chronicling the surprise success and continuing impact that followed it.
The book also contains numerous detachable detailed reproductions of production notes, script sections, and concept artwork. It also answers some of the longer-standing questions that Ghostbusters fans (and casual viewers) have been curious about: How did they come up with the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, or the ghost Slimer? What inspired the Ghostbuster-mobile “Ecto-1”? How in the world did they think of such a crazy-funny-science-fiction-fantasy comedy?
We are thrilled to be selling this franchise’s long-overdue impressive large hardcover with the timeless “no-ghosts” logo on the front. With the new film entry in to the franchise coming out this summer, what better time to refresh yourself on the strange and spooky (or is it goofy?) universe of the “Ghostbusters!” We are fans, too, so come talk story.
