Thank you, Phil Worwa for giving me an opportunity to swing by the NTBG Southshore Visitor Center where the lotus blossoms were having a field day in all the wind.
Phil had a bunch of his disc golfers — Andrew Crawford is pretty good — could even hear the whir of the disc as it rode the wind, and Haley Morey-Moen (her mom Vanesha Morey said she’s the last of the Morey) is a good artist at eighth grade at Island School, and Sally Tobin had all the different kinds of “speeds” to work with.
Anthony Hessheimer (does Erika Hessheimer wield those discs as well as she does the sewing machines?) was trying to learn some of the Tobin “speeds,” and Brian Foster might have a unique style of flipping, according to Phil, but he had the bar-b-que.
OK, it’s the big Memorial Day weekend coming up — Mary Williamson has her Pedal to the Meadow, and a big event at the Kauai Raceway Park, and Chris Faye is gearing up for the Banana Poka RoundUp. Linda Inouye of Grove Farm has her staff working on lei for the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetary graves, but Gary Pacheco and the North Shore Lions Club will be working at Kilauea Elementary School.
