LIHUE — In just two days, the Keiki Junior Lifeguard Program has filled up with 250 keiki having registered, according to the Kauai Ocean Safety Bureau.
The Keiki program is now full and applications are no longer being accepted, said county spokeswoman Sarah Blane.
“However, the Jr. Lifeguard program, for children ages 12-17, is still accepting applications for the Salt Pond, Kalapaki, Poipu locations,” she said. “As a reminder, space is limited and applicants are accepted on a first come, first served basis.”
The Junior Lifeguard Program will be training for its 13th consecutive year as state Junior Lifeguard champions. The program is open to youth who can swim and run 100 yards nonstop.
