LIHUE — Malia Ridings was the winner of the Kauai Community College student photo contest after viewer votes were tallied by class instructor Serge Marcil.
The announcement was made during the opening of the next go-round of student art created at the college’s digital photo class — the Kauai Community College Spring 2016 Student Photo Exhibition.
“Photography allows everyone to express creatively,” Marcil said. “There is no right or wrong in photography: Anything goes as long as it carries an emotion and makes us feel free.”
Viewers are invited to stroll through the Rice Street entrance area to see the more than 170 entries posted to the walls of the Piikoi Building, Lihue Civic Center.
They are also invited to cast a ballot for their favorite piece. These votes will be tallied at the end of the show and a winner determined.
Ballots are also randomly drawn where the winning voter earns a print of the winning photograph.
The prints are available for viewing until Dec. 20.
