KAPAA — A rally will be held at the stoplight by the Kapaa Safeway on Saturday as part of the global “March Against Monsanto.”
This year will be the fourth annual march, and efforts are being coordinated worldwide in an effort to inform the public about genetically engineered foods and as a global call to action.
According to the March Against Monsanto worldwide campaign, the march’s purpose is to call into question “long-term health risks of genetically modified foods, and demanding that GMO products be labeled so that consumers can make informed decisions.”
Mary Lacques, with Hawaii SEED, said the marches are a great way to educate residents and visitors about the issues relating to “the health of our families, the land and our communities.”
Kauai’s March Against Monsanto begins at 10 a.m. and goes until noon.
