KALAHEO — Jazmine Kaleiohi, Monique Lorenzo and Monique Tomacder combined for 35 points to lead the Pono Blue to a 48-40 margin over the Kamikaze Saturday during a summer basketball league girls Division 1 matchup at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
KALAHEO — Jazmine Kaleiohi, Monique Lorenzo and Monique Tomacder combined for 35 points to lead the Pono Blue to a 48-40 margin over the Kamikaze Saturday during a summer basketball league girls Division 1 matchup at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Kaleiohi finished with a game-high 13 points followed by Lorenzo adding a dozen points and Tomacder finishing with 10 points in the first of five games played in Kalaheo.
Kalia Shimabukuro and Sheryl-Ann Tomas topped the Kamikaze balanced attack with 10 points apiece followed by Ayzlin Kealoha-Albarado and Jasmine Buerano each ending with eight points in the effort.
The balanced scoring overflowed into the second match when Kaye and Hazel Serapio each netted eight points to lead the Kaulupono girls Division 3 team to its 32-4 victory over the Dream Team.
Braelyn Cayaban and Kierstin Gummerus each chipped in six point for Kaulupono while Alexis Ann Yam and Kekai Hunt each netted a pair for the Dream Team.
Hans Carlos fired off 11 points and Syrus Delos Reyes added nine points to lead the Team Lihue Spurs to a 39-13 victory over the Papalina White in the third matchup, a boys Division 4 game.
Garrett and Kaina of Papalina White were credited with four points apiece in the effort.
Papalina came back in the fourth match, another boys Division 4 event, when Hekili netted 13 points, and AJ added 10 points to lead the Papalina Orange team to a 45-7 win over the Team Lihue Warriors.
Evan and Nainoa added to the Papalina Orange scoring with seven points apiece while Daesen Martinez and Damien Tumpap led the Team Lihue Warrior effort with three points each.
Austin Renaud scored nine points to lead the Lihue Lakers to a 37-14 victory over Westside in the finale, another boys Division 4 game.
Ian Rapozo finished with seven points with Sage Cua and Keyan Fort each adding six points in the win. Josiah Delos Reyes topped the Westside effort with seven points.
With The Kauai Hoops Classic, also known as the Merv Lopes basketball tournament, looming, the summer league will host its next games Monday with three games on tap starting at 6 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Games will also be played Tuesday starting at 6 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center and at the Bernice Hundley Gym in Kapaa before the league recesses for The Kauai Hoops Classic which opens Thursday.
The Santa Fe High School team, participating in The Kauai Hoops Classic, will be using the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center for practice Tuesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
