LIHUE — A Lihue woman has racked up six felony drug cases in less than a month.
Cheri Chieko Kala Numazawa, 35, appeared before Kathleen Watanabe Monday and pleaded not guilty to multiple drug charges on two separate cases. Her trial is set for Oct. 10.
Last week, she appeared before two Kauai judges on four cases to plead not guilty on 15 drug-related felony charges, including methamphetamine trafficking, a class A felony.
In total, Numazawa is facing 24 drug-related felonies for incidents dating back to 2013 and 2016.
Prosecuting Attorney Justin Kollar, who is handling the class A felony cases himself, said his office does not take drug offenses lightly.
“Crystal methamphetamine is a major problem in our community,” Kollar said.
Numazawa has been arrested 58 times since 2003, with the most recent arrest being on June 2, according to the arrest history provided by the Kauai Police Department.
Her arrest history includes 28 felonies, 18 misdemeanors and 12 petty misdemeanors.
