Yikes! It’s a busy weekend with all kinds of things taking place starting with bon dance at the Lihue Honwanji Mission tonight and Saturday — dinner service starts at 5 p.m., food booth (go early to make sure you get flying saucers!) and country store opens at 6 p.m., and bon dancing starts at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Kazunori Takahashi has information on why we celebrate bon, and Wayne Fujioka is the bon dance chair.
Saturday, check out Diann Hartman (is Patti Ornellas going to be there?) and the Bark for Life fun(draiser) at the Hokuala (old Whaler’s parking lot), and then roll down the hill for the Keiki Fest presented by the Wilcox Hospital people at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club.
And, since you’re there, check out Tad Miura and his ‘ohana at the free keiki surf contest that will be going off from 8 a.m. at Kalapaki Beach (Jaime Arreola and the Duke’s people will have lunch for the surfers!)
Ron Wood of FM97 said that’s a lot of things to keep the young ones busy, and if that’s not enough, there’s always Kauai Police Activities League flag football (Eden Raquel and Yukie DeSilva have people playing) which starts Saturday from 8 a.m. at the North Vidinha fields.
