KEKAHA – Kekaha Beach is closed to swimming until further notice after a shark sighting, according to Ocean Safety officials on Tuesday.

Lifeguards report that a roughly eight-foot shark was sighted off shore. The type of shark is unknown.

As a safety precaution, Ocean Safety officials are advising no swimming until further notice. Lifeguards will continue to monitor the beach.

The beach will remain closed until at least tomorrow morning when lifeguards will reassess if it may be reopened.
