LIHUE — Subaru Hawaii and the Kauai Humane Society are hoping to boost the adoption of pets from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday by offering free pet adoptions for all registered Subaru owners. Others will be allowed a chance to spin the wheel on discounted adoption fees. Pet adopters will get a free pet starter goodie bag and a $25 PETCO gift certificate.
“Adopting a pet has many benefits and improves your quality of life, both for families, singles and seniors alike,” said Penny Cistaro, executive director of KHS. “They bring joy to your home, offer companionship, and a dog is a great reason for daily exercise.”
Cistaro added, “For those interested in lower-maintenance pets, one should consider adopting an older animal, as they offer some distinct advantages; most of them have had some training and often are fully house trained and socialized.”
Animal lovers are encouraged to bring bags of pet food and other related donations to KHS to fill a 2016 Subaru Forrester. All donations will go to support the work of KHS.
“This will be a great day to adopt a new best friend and also support the Kauai Humane Society through donations of pet food and supplies,” said Glenn Inouye, senior vice president of Servco, representing the Subaru Hawaii Dealers. “The Forester is good-sized, so we encourage all pet lovers to share their love and bring in a donation.”
Pets are one of three focus areas for Subaru Hawaii’s yearlong Share the Love charitable campaign and commitment to community; the other two focus areas are earth and learning.
KHS is the only animal welfare organization on Kauai, and is not affiliated with any other local or national animal welfare organization. KHS depends on contributions from individuals and businesses to fund programs and services.
