POIPU — Mary Kay Hertog, representing the Multiple Sclerosis Hawaii, Kauai, was thrilled to learn the amount of the Table 53 check amount Friday.
Chip Bahouth was joined by associates from the Sheraton Kauai Resort in presenting Hertog, Krystal Morinaka and Candice Schwalbach a check for $2,881.59 representing proceeds from Table 53 in the RumFire Poipu Beach restaurant.
“This is the first time MS Hawaii has worked with the Sheraton Kauai on this program,” Hertog said. “The amount represents proceeds from Table 53 for the month of May under the Sheraton’s ‘You Dine, We Donate’ program. The great thing about this is all of the money stays on Kauai to support Kauai people in their fight against multiple sclerosis.”
Candice Schwalbach of MS Hawaii said she estimates at least 60 people on Kauai are affected by multiple sclerosis.
“These are just the ones we know of,” Schwalbach said. “There may be others who have not been diagnosed.”
Under the Table 53 program, net proceeds for food and beverage at Table 53 are donated to the month’s designated nonprofit organization. More than $150,000 has been raised for worthy causes to benefit the Kauai community through the Table 53 program since its inception in October 2012.
Healing Horses Kauai is the beneficiary of Table 53 proceeds for August.
Healing Horses, Kauai’s mission is to enrich the lives of people of all abilities through Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies, improving their physical, cognitive, social and emotional well-being.
