Kudos to Maryanne Kusaka, Jane Gray, Chucky Boy Chock and all the Kauai Museum ohana on a great event where not only the current Living Treasures were, we had Arnold Meister (a previous Living Treasure) and Gov. David Ige and First Lady Dawn Amano-Ige coming in to honor the recipients.
Congratulations to Sharron Weber, who not only is a Living Treasure, but earlier in the week was named an inductee to the Hawaii Watermen Hall of Fame. She is a two-time world surfing champion and a member of the Surfing Walk of Fame, and goes to induction ceremonies on Aug. 23, the eve of what would be Duke Kahanamoku’s 126th birthday!
More kudos to Josie Pablo, Elaine Morita, Peter Klune, Liza Trinidad and all the Mahelona Hospital gang for hosting the largest bon dance since the hospital started doing it nearly 20 years ago!
Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. had a special Japanese print shirt for the occasion, and it was nice to see the Divas and Dudes support Josie in the effort.
