Kekaha employees help Louisiana
Forty-five Syngenta employees in Louisiana were displaced due to flooding in the area, said Beth Tokioka of Syngenta.
This motivated a fundraising effort by the Kekaha office Thursday, when the Syngenta crew hosted a plate lunch fundraiser that raised $1,500. The amount will be matched by the Syngenta corporate office to benefit the American Red Cross, Louisiana Floods effort.
The flood devastating Louisiana is the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since Hurricane Sandy four years ago. A satellite image showed tens of thousands of acres under water across a 200-mile area in Lafayette.
“Shirley Sam Fong cooked up the Kalua Pig plates,” Tokioka said. “Our friends at DuPont Pioneer and Dow Agrosciences purchased quite a few lunches and contributed to the effort.”
