NAWILIWILI — Credit unions presented the Kauai Independent Food Bank facility in Nawiliwili with a check for more than $10,500 Thursday.
“We want to thank off of the credit union members and staff who were generous and contributed to this effort that helps provide food for our island’s keiki and kupuna,” said Terri Kaniho, representing the Kauai Community Federal Credit Union. “This is an annual effort and takes place ahead of National Credit Union Week where we celebrate all of the contributions credit unions make to our island home.”
The total reflects the combination of monetary contributions as well as food collected, the weight being translated into monetary amount based on a formula from KIFB.
Leona Perez, the KIFB programs manager, was elated with the timely arrival of the credit unions.
“It is coincidence that your contribution comes on the same day as the KIFB Dine Out for Hunger,” Perez said.
