Happy birthday to Keoua Sibayan, who was celebrating his birthday on the day the Kawaihau Juniors All Stars baseball team came home from the Little League Juniors World Series! They didn’t need Keoua’s birthday to bring out a lot of people who were proud of the team’s accomplishments, going 17 wins before dropping to China in the World Series title game.
Kudos to Stephanie Shinno of the Kauai Lions Club and Kelvin Moniz of the East Kauai Lions Club on the afternoon of Lionism and fellowship at the Niumalu pavilion (Kelvin said to look at the slab for the pavilion extension which was built in 1987 to see how many great Lions were involved).
Eric Nordmeier and Charlie Ortiz (he was setting up for the farm fair, Wednesday, too) were having a discussion on whether the Niumalu pavilion is the last of the original-style pavilions.
Edie Ignacio Neumiller, she’s helping the YWCA of Kauai on the “Equal Means Equal” film screening, said they will have an ASL interpreter present at the event Friday night at the historic Waimea Theater. Renae Hamilton-Cambeil will lead the panel discussion with Rep. Dee Morikawa, Linda Estes and Snow Carapentyan.
