Election results are troubling
After trying to digest the primary election results I just felt the need to respond. Even though only 35 percent of registered voters bothered to vote, and even though only a similar percentage of adults even bothered to register (not good at math, but around 10-12 percent of the population?) I think that in my opinion the best county council member, Gary Hooser, coming in ninth place is disheartening.
From what I can find, Mr. Hooser is the only council member who has come out openly to oppose the disastrous proposed dairy in Mahaulepu. I can only imagine what the other council members’ positions are, but close affiliations with Grove Farm are disturbing. Close affiliations with the major chemical companies for several other incumbents and newcomers are equally disturbing.
The fact that there does not appear to be a solution to the ever-growing problem of Mt. Mana (our ever-growing manmade land mass; it has long passed being a landfill) shows just how dysfunctional our current council has become.
They have managed to legislate away legitimate bed and breakfasts and then decided that everybody can build an ADU and rent it to who? For how much? Located where?
My question I guess is a simple one. If you don’t want to do the job, why in the world have you invested so much in yard signs?
