LIHUE — A Kauai High School graduate received a $1,000 Times Supermarkets Scholarship through the California Grocers Association Educational Foundation.
While at Kauai High School, Genelynne Morden was on the Dean’s List and was a member of various clubs like Social Work Club, Phi Alpha Honor Society, the Hawaii Club and the Japanese Club, according to a release.
Morden is attending Pacific University and plans to major in social work. She plans to work with children to overcome adversities, the release said.
Foundation scholarships are awarded annually to college students who are either employees or dependents of employees of California Grocers Association member companies. They are awarded on academic merit and evidence of outstanding character and leadership potential.
This year, the foundation awarded 371 scholarships, totaling a record $588,100.
