LIHUE — Kauai Island Utility Cooperative is again warning about phone scams targeting KIUC customers.
KIUC has received multiple calls from businesses saying they received a call that their account was delinquent and they had to pay a deposit or their power would be shut off.
KIUC does not initiate calls to customers about late bills.
Never provide personal, confidential or financial information to anyone when responding to unsolicited phone calls or e-mails.
If you’re not sure if the call is legitimate, get the caller’s name, phone number and company name and tell them you’ll call them back after verifying their information. Report it to police.
Similar calls were reported in October 2015, February 2014 and in April 2013.

Comments wanted on plan
LIHUE — The Kauai Workforce Development Board is accepting public comment on the Local Area Plan for Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act.
The plan for 2017 to 2020 aims to guide workforce development services on Kauai that support anticipated industry growth as well as employment and training opportunities over the next four years.
The draft plan can be accessed on the county website at www.kauai.gov/OED.
Comments will be accepted until Oct. 10.
