Art Umezu is scrambling to put together something for a Japan delegation who arrived here for the Okinawa Festival which got canceled due to Hurricane Lester. Art is also balancing taking care of the winners of the Iwaki City Sunshine Marathon who are arriving to run in The Kauai Marathon Sunday.
Welcome to Kauai, Sgt. First Class Daniel Fox and his family who will be here until Sept. 15 under the Vacations for Warriors program! Lynn Aylward-Bingman will be at the airport to greet the “wounded warrior” along with Kaleo Carvalho who will be representing Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr.
Daniel Hamada (he was at the KIF girls volleyball games, Wednesday) said the KIF will be meeting Friday to decide on whether the Saturday events will be affected by the passage of Lester.
Kudos to Major Victor Aguilar and the Waimea teams on their sweep of the KIF air riflery matches at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center (mahalo to Khryshia Pascual for the help with the student id).
Of course, it’s always nice to get re-acquainted with the trainers — Sam Henriques was having a discussion on pressure cooking laulau, and yes, that was Leighton Moniz sitting next to Chris Ang.
