Free presentation Tuesday on mosquito-borne diseases
HANAPEPE — Zika and dengue fever are just two of the several major diseases transmitted by mosquitoes that have been in the news lately. To help answer questions, the public is invited to a free presentation discussing the global spread of mosquito-borne disease threats, and the impact on Hawaii.
Lauren Guest, the Department of Health Public Health emergency preparedness planner at the Kauai District Office, will speak Tuesday during a free presentation starting at 6 p.m. at the Hanapepe Armory.
Involved with the Tropic Care Kauai missions, Guest focuses on updating emergency response plans and improving the readiness of Kauai’s communities. Prior to moving here in 2015, Guest worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia, and India on global preparedness and emergency health needs assessments.
The presentation is sponsored by the Hawaii Hazards Awareness and Resilience Program.
