Kapaa High School’s varsity girls volleyball team defeated No. 4 seed Waianae of the Oahu Interscholastic Association in the quarterfinals of the New City Nissan Girls Volleyball State Championships – Division II tournament Thursday at Kaimuki High School in Honolulu.
The Warriors won, 3-2 — 25-9, 20-25, 14-25, 25-20 and 15-9.
In the opening round Wednesday, Kapaa beat Hawaii Preparatory Academy, 3-1 — 25-9, 19-25, 25-20 and 25-19.
Kapaa next plays 7 p.m. tonight at Kaimuki High against the winner of the quarterfinals match between No. 1 seed Hawaii Baptist of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu and Molokai of the Maui Interscholastic League. Results of that match were not available by press time.
