HONOLULU — A Kauai man accused of sending methamphetamine to the island from Oahu was sentenced to 80 months in prison.
On Thursday, Timothy Conwill appeared before Judge Helen Gilmore on a charge of meth trafficking.
According to the indictment, which was filed in the U.S. District Court, Conwill “did knowingly and intentionally attempt to posses with intent to distribute, 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance, containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.”
Conwill, who was a most wanted person on Kauai in 2010 on charges of second-degree trafficking of methamphetamine, was arrested in July 2015 after police say he mailed a package of methamphetamine to himself.
Conwill has two prior felony convictions, one for promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree and another for possession of drug paraphernalia in 2005.
Conwill was taken into custody immediately following Thursday’s proceedings, said Elliot Enoki, a spokesman for the District of Hawaii, U.S. Department of Justice.
