“Actually we stole this bit from a quote by G. K. Chesterton. The full version is: ‘The more I considered Christianity, the more I found that while it had established a rule and order, the chief aim of that order was to give room for good things to run wild.’”
For a quarter of a century it has been obvious that this Christian community has lived up to their motto.
“We are actually a youth ministry that morphed into a church,” says Bundschuh, “and out of our original start-up leadership team, three of the five guys are still serving as Pastors with us which is a pretty remarkable commentary for any church.”
Along the way, the expanding South Shore church picked up more staff, added a $2 million sports center, and recently partnered with a North Shore church to create Kauai Christian Fellowship North in Kilauea.
“Our goal is to honor God, care about our neighbor, and invite those whose hearts hunger for something more than what this ball of dirt offers, to experience what it is like to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ,” said Bundschuh.
To celebrate the 25-year milestone, KCF is throwing what they call the Big 25 family party on Sunday at their south campus complete with food, a waterslide, pony rides, games of skill and chance in the sports center, a cakewalk, and live music with a line up of sterling acts such as Not My First Rodeo and several other local acts.
The fun begins at 3 p.m. and will culminate with a performance by renown illusionist Danny Wray at 6.
All activities except food are completely free and the public is invited to join the party.
