The Kauai United Way was awarded $11,348 in Emergency Food & Shelter Program through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Funds also went to Catholic Charities; The Hawaii Food Bank – Kauai Branch; Kauai Economic Opportunity; Malama Pono Health Service; St. Catherine’s Food Pantry and YWCA Women’s Shelter.Funding is distributed based on a formula that measures relative poverty conditions by county across the nation.
Kauai United Way’s portion will be added to its annual campaign and be made available for allocation to the KUW participating agencies in 2017.
“Service recipients in our community will see an increase in assistance at these other organizations from this program during the remainder of 2016,” according to a press release.
