LIHUE — Thomas Yano, owner of the Subway Sandwich at Hokulei Village Shopping Center, was surprised by the number of people who came by while he was setting up the shop.
“People would rattle on the doors, trying to get in,” Yano said. “But the waiting is over. We’re opening Saturday with breakfast from 6:30 a.m.”
Yano said the latest Subway Sandwich store is the sister of the Lihue Subway and will share its employee pool with a combined staff of 25.
The Hokulei store is the first store in Hawaii to feature the new Metro decor which uses minimal wall papering and more tiles and stonework.
The store will feature the same menu as the Lihue store and will have soups.
