WAIMEA — Karin Panui of Mailelani’s said Jacqueline Kelley came all the way from Maui to get a Micro Cuddle Buddy Saturday at the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital’s annual craft fair.
“This is something I’ve had,” Panui said. “I just beefed it up a little and made it with some different fabric, and now, it’s selling really good.”
Mailelani’s was one of 19 vendors who filled the main hallway of the KVMH medical center and overflowed onto the front yard, sharing its space with the food preparers.
“This is one of the KVMH Auxiliary’s main fundraisers for the year,” said Steve Kline, the KVMH occupational therapist. “It’s an early shop for Christmas and provides funds for the Auxiliary’s efforts at helping the hospital as well as offering scholarships for Westside students.”
This weekend’s schedule of craft fairs include the Ace Hardware, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall; Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and craft vendors at the Veterans Day Parade at the Historic County Building from 10 a.m., and the Kapaa Middle School Ukulele Band and Chorus Concert Fest at the Garden Inn Hilton in Wailua from noon to 5 p.m.
