Stephanie Shinno (she’s still accepting registration for the Kauai Christmas Parade coming up Nov. 26) asked how often it is that a child can meet a U.S. senator when her daughter Aaliyah Nero (she’s still accepting gift cards for giving to needy children) got to meet Sen. Brian Schatz Friday afternoon at the Boys & Girls Club (Tina Albao said they still have two tables left for their fundraising gala on Friday), Lihue Club.
Sen. Schatz stopped by to speak with this year’s candidates for the Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year before rushing off to the Grand Rally hosted by the Democratic Party (Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard was out sign-waving along Kuhio Highway before joining the group who took time to honor Betty Matsumura for her countless hours of service to the Party).
Gerald Ako did a great job speaking on the praises of Aunty Betty’s cooking, and Jean Iida had her hands full of stuff for Betty as Gov. David Ige came up with a proclamation along with his message to encourage people to get out and vote (who’s working on Tuesday?).
Kudos to Steven Nishimura and the Kauai Democrats on a great way to end the final week before Election Day!
