KALIHIWAI — Kauai Police have identified the 63-year-old man involved in a fatal motorcycle crash in Kalihiwai last week.
KPD said Monday Kent Kaui died while attempting to make a left turn onto Kuhio Highway from South Kalihiwai Road at 2:40 p.m. on Friday.
Kaui was struck by a pickup truck heading northbound. Kaui was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He died at the scene.
The two occupants of the pickup truck were uninjured.
Kuhio Highway was closed following the crash to allow police to conduct an investigation. The highway was reopened at approximately 6:08 p.m.
The Kapaa man is the island’s eighth traffic fatality of the year.
